Today I was cleaning my pc when I found something rather...interesting, a old original story of mine, that I never finished.
Anyway, I started reading it, and was surprised, I've always considered my english a little...bad, so actually writing something like that in english seemed a little impossible, but apparently I did.

Now that my english is slightly better, I changed a couple of things about the first chapter, so today I'll share it with...well, whoever is interested in it.

So, if you're going to read it, be kind, and give advise or something. You know there will be a hell lot of typos in there...and other kind of mistakes.

Chapter 1: Hell and Damnation

Farris Miles loathed mornings, there was something about the emptiness of the streets, the chilly air and the absolute silence that seemed to paralyze the world, making Kaileah City a scene of desolation that was unbearable after a long night of loneliness. He hated being alone with his thoughts and his demons, he craved for company and distraction with such fervor that he wasted happily his money in cheap booze and company that disappeared before the sunrise.

“The hell with mornings” He thought, smiling a little as he shoved his hands deeper into his pockets “God only knows why mornings exist”

Yet, there he was, walking the empty streets with a general sense of grunginess, trying desperately to ignore his hangover, which was steadily getting worse with the freezing cold. He wanted to return to his loft, get under the heavy blankets of his bed and die that or maybe just sleep until noon, wake up, find some more alcohol and drink into obliviousness.

“No such luck…I’m out of money”

That was the reason he was heading to the huge, looming black building located in the heart of the city, AC Inc, or, as Farris lovingly called it: Hell.

It wasn’t a bad place, he even liked it. He called it Hell because of the people who worked there, assassins, spies, lowlife scum, and himself. He shivered a little at the sight of the immaculate walls, he wasn’t cold anymore, a sheer sense of excitement had taken possession of his body, and he shrugged it off uncomfortably, he didn’t liked being excited about his job, it made him feel as a monster. Killing wasn’t supposed to be fun, it was serious business, not a game, and certainly not a hobby as he considered sometimes.

“Hobby, the next thing I’ll know, I’ll be running around downtown killing everyone with a crowbar” Farris sighed, he was terrified of the idea, because he knew it was something possible, he had never been the most controlled of guys.

-I have to admit it though…I’m the best killer around-He said to himself, before and rushing inside to escape the cold, ignoring the steady voice in his head that reminded him that he also enjoyed slaughter.

The inside of the building was incredibly contrasting with the exterior, there was not a trace of black in the whole place, white and light grays where the dominant colors, white marvel in the walls and gray one in the floor, the decoration was minimal, barely a few plants and paintings cautiously spread around the huge vestibule. At the far right corner there was small bunch of comfortable looking sofas concealed behind a huge fountain right at the middle of the room, at the left corner there was a big and elegant reception counter, where a blond woman was waving at him.

-Farris, it’s good to see you, the place has been awfully boring without you-She said, smiling broadly at him. He had always considered her voice quite sexy, a little too raspy and deep for a woman, but definitely female. She was tall and slender, dressed in elegant yet discreet light gray business suit, which was probably the reason her outstanding beauty passed unadvised, at least at first sight.

-I’ve missed you-She added batting her long eyelashes at him before laughing a little.

-Not as much as I’ve missed you Sylvia, that’s for sure.-He said, beaming a disarming smile to her before walking towards the desk, his bulk moving far more gracefully that one would have expected.

They enjoyed flirting with each other, yet nothing more than serious groping had ever passed between them, it was just a game between good friends.

-Is that so?-She asked pulling him for a kiss as soon as he was close enough, he laughed a little before returning the kiss, biting lightly her lower lip.

-I don’t want to sound unprofessional here Sylvia-He stopped when Sylvia snorted, but continued after a couple of seconds- Tsk, let me finish. I don’t want to be unprofessional, but I have to say it dear, you look amazing, did you change your hair?

-Oh, the big man noticed-She said happily-I thought your hair was full of air dear, yes, as a matter of fact I changed my hair, it’s straight now.

-It suits you.

-Of course it does honey, everything suits a blond.

-I don’t know about that-Said Farris, passing his hands trough his hair, it was also blond, but a much darker shade-May hair never looks good.

-Oh you liar, you always look handsome, do you think I’ll be flirting with you if you didn’t?

-Oh, so you just like me because of my looks-Farris said mocking hurt, which only earned him another snort.

-Of course, now Farris if you…-She was interrupted by a light static sound coming out of a small speaker at her side, which was followed by a male voice.

-Sylvia, I think Claudius wants to see you-A male voice said uncertainly as if he didn’t knew what he was saying for sure-At least he has been repeating your name for at least half an hour.

-Going

Sylvia sighed dramatically while standing up, and walking seductively towards the elevator doors.

-Farris dear, why don’t you seat down? I’ll tell Claudius you’re here.

Farris was happy to obey, after all there was nothing else to do, he walked lazily to the sofas and let himself fall in one, they where as comfortable as they look, something that Farris loved. He let out a satisfied sighed before closing his eyes trying to convince himself that he was feeling happy because of Sylvia, and not the prospect of a new job.

The sliding doors of the building opened with a low hiss, causing Farris to turn his attention towards the door, from which a small form emerged. She was a young girl, not older than eighteen by her looks…well, actually eighteen was a little high, not older than sixteen then, she entered without hesitation, walking calmly towards  the reception before stopping dead in her tracks, apparently confused.

-What?..-She spotted Farris at the other side of the room and she waved towards him, smiling lightly-Where is Sylvia?

-She went upstairs-Farris answered, impressed at the fact that the girl wasn’t lost, she knew why she was there-How do you know her?

-Is not your business-She answered coldly before walking to the sofas, sitting across the waiting room, staring at Farris with an expression he couldn’t decipher so instead of trying he just returned the stare, analyzing the girl in the process.

“She is pretty” Farris thought raising his eyebrows a little, her face was delicate and cute, small nose, big violet eyes, full kissable lips…All of that made ignoring her sick paleness and dark circles around her eyes an easy task, he smiled a little, turning his attention to the smaller details, there was small endearing freckles in her cheeks, giving her an infantile look, which contrasted with the piercings she wore in her lower lip and in her right eyebrow.

-What are you staring at?-The girl snapped, her voice cold and menacing, which was an amazing feat, because her voice was soft and high-pitched, slightly squirrel-like.

Farris couldn’t think an answer immediately, instead he just stared at the girl for a couple of seconds before reacting, mumbling something  intelligible and blushing a little, the girl smiled slightly and turned her attention to the roof, while Farris tried to focus in other thing, his eyes traveled slowly to her clothes.

She was dresed in black, the whole deal, a small skirt, a black tank top, a rather manly leather jacket and combat boots, she was obviously trying to look threatening, an attempt that failed disastrously considering that she was using multicolored belt and leggings, and that the laces in her boots where pink.

-Stop looking at me!-The girl said, irritated. Farris smiled apologetically before standing up and walk towards the fountain, trying his best not to turn and spy the girl again, she was really interesting, but clearly in a bad mood.

-Farris, Claudius wants to see you-Sylvia seemed to appear out of nowhere, causing the huge blond to actually jump, startled, he turned and smiled to the woman before heading to the stairs, he liked exercise.

-Thanks Sylvia, I’ll see you later.

He glanced back to the girl one last time before the elevator doors closed; she made a rude gesture before turning her attention to Sylvia, who was looking at her with a confused expression.
